21-24 November 2017, Valletta, Malta - The Commonwealth Local Government Conference is CLGF's flagship event, held every two years in different regions of the Commonwealth. In 2017 the CLGF conference will be held for the first time in Malta. The conference brings together some 500-600 top local government policy makers, practitioners and other key stakeholders - including heads of government, ministers, mayors and council leaders, senior officials, and partners from development agencies, academia, civil society and the finance and corporate sector.
15-16 November 2017, London, United Kingdom - The conference will report on the findings of a three-year project designed to improve knowledge and practice in responding to crises in urban settings, funded by the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID).
9-10 October 2017, Paris, France - These meetings will focus on the internationalization of local and regional authorities and should enhance the international heritage of local authorities in the field of solidarity and development, and show the rapid developments in the old decentralized cooperation. At the same time, we will have to account for the inevitable internationalization of the territories as well as the new demands of members.
6-19 November 2017, Geneva, Switzerland - Geneva Peace Week is a collective action initiative facilitated by the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies, and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform in collaboration with the Swiss Confederation. By synchronizing events on different topics related to the promotion of peace during one week, Geneva Peace Week attempts to maximize synergies between organizations in Geneva, focused on the cross-cutting nature of peace.
