World Urban Forum 9

7-13 February 2017, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (exact dates TBD) - WUF9, taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in February 2018, has been recognized by the General Assembly resolution 70/210 as the first session to have a thematic focus on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.

2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

22-26 May, Cancun, Mexico - The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (Global Platform), as recognized by the UN General Assembly, is the main forum at the global level for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and the review of progress in the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. It was established in 2006 and is now the world's foremost gathering of stakeholders committed to reducing disaster risk and building the resilience of communities and nations.

Geneva Peace Week 2017

6-19 November 2017, Geneva, Switzerland - Geneva Peace Week is a collective action initiative facilitated by the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies, and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform in collaboration with the Swiss Confederation. By synchronizing events on different topics related to the promotion of peace during one week, Geneva Peace Week attempts to maximize synergies between organizations in Geneva, focused on the cross-cutting nature of peace.

ICLEI Resilient Cities Congress 2017

6-8 May 2017, Bonn, Germany - Resilient Cities 2017 will explore current and pressing issues for urban resilience and adaptation to climate change such as climate-related health risks, internal displacement and forced migration, and risk transfer and insurance as they represent serious challenges where further attention and support is needed. The congress will delve further into these topics, while continuing to track progress on financing resilience, DRR planning and policy, mechanisms for measuring, reporting and accelerating action for resilience building.

UN-Habitat 26th Session of the Governing Council

8-12 May, Nairobi, Kenya - This session of the Governing Council follows the adoption of the New Urban Agenda during the Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in Quito, Ecuador in October 2016.
